There’s no shortage of Lebanese eateries down Cleveland Street way where Surry Hills meets Redfern, but the standout has always been Fatima’s.
She may be smaller than some of her neighbours in size, but she’s a colourful and appealing option. Friendly staff, vibrant interiors and delicious food at reasonable prices – you can see why this family-owned and-operated business has been at it since 1969.
There’s also a cushion room upstairs for functions, live belly dancing on Friday and Saturday nights and late-night take-away.
The hack? It’s all good, but the platters ($20 a person for a mixed vegetarian platter or $23 for a meat one) are a steal. It includes Lebanese must-eats – like falafels, hommus and vine leaves – plus two dishes of your choice per person, making it a feast. Plus you can BYO.
Fatima’s, 294-296 Cleveland Street, Surry Hills.
